Why am I so upset?

Hmmm, I think that if it was your birthday and that is how it went down, you would be upset, too. It's too bad so many things went wrong. I wouldn't be too mad at him for being upset, although I might say something about how you tried hard to make it a good weekend for him and that you are sorry things didn't go as planned.

I think I've let it go. I mean, he never does anything for me, so the fact that he would get upset about things not going for him the way he had hoped is kind of BS. I think part of it that bothers me is how very short he is with the kids when they aren't behaving properly... I guess since I have to deal with it all day every day I can just handle them a little better sometimes.

My dh seems to be this way, too. I think you are right, being around them a lot we are used to it and can accept it more, plus I think moms just naturally have more patience and understanding in that way.
