Ok. I off and on hate my job
But I am really thinking its time to start looking
Some other people have been bad so they are punishing everyone. I have to work late nights during the week, and I said no i cant. so my head boss said fine, you might not get a weekend off anymore. That pisses me off because I drop everything when an emergency comes up, pput my job before my kids many times. WE only get one weekend off a month,a nd now saying I might never get weekends off. Enough to make me start looking? I dont know, Just ranting. But all i know is fast food, i have been doing it since 17, never went to school. I can get any fast food job but pretty much all the hours suck.

I'm there... I so enjoyed my job when I first started... and even until about a week ago... I do everything for them, come in on little notice, pick up a tonne of extra hours and do work for others that was left and not done.... and get passed by every single time a full time spot comes up. I'm working full time hours as it is, but I need the damn benefits and am kinda sick of doing the job and not getting the recognition for it!!

I have to work yet another shift this afternoon that someone called in for, and I stupidly agree'd to work... and I so want to not show up!!

My DH was happy with his job but on a bad day started looking around and now makes considerably more and is way happier than he was at his last job.

It doesn't hurt to look.

can bosses threaten like that?? I don't think they can. If you are not digging it maybe you can start looking for something else, can't hurt anyway

It never hurts to look. Thats how dh found his new job, and hes a bazillion times happier now than he was at his old job. If youre unhappy then look for something new

Its hard cuz I should have went to school for somethhing
and fustrating cuz all I know is fast food,but being a manager for so long, there really are alot of skills I have learned, but have no education.
The nice thing was I went into work and my direct boss (who I like) was taking out the pay stubs and says, open yours looks like a cheque. And sure enough we got a bonus cheque

There are so many options out there.

I paid to go to school and spent 3 years training to be a chef and after only a year in the restaurant industry, I decided that I love being in the front of the house serving and meeting new people.

You can do whatever you want to do. And if you need to go to school for something, so be it. You have years of work ahead of you, you should spend it doing something you love.

Unfortunately in the service industry you can. When you are open 24/7 anything can happen with your hours ect, even if you are management. When you start you are well aware that it is weekends, days, nights ect, so when you say I can't work that anymore, they just throw back, when you were hired you were well aware ect.

I have in my contract that I don't work nights anymore, if I didn't I would be at my work till at least 11pm at times. If you are management with this economy it is like getting kicked in the teeth sometimes, I have to work stats now to save on hourly wages, BLOWS, not happy at all. I am waiting for DH's 3 months to come and go at his new job and then I am going to start looking, I love my co workers but I miss my kids with only having one weekend off a month ect. I did make it clear though that I am NOT working Christmas, Boxing day and Family day as I am the only one with kids.

Rain, they are building a HI in your town, it will have a food service side, maybe that is an oppertunity for you?
